Huawei Mate 10 could feature a powerful Kirin 970 chipset built on 10nm technology

The upcoming Huawei Mate 10 could shape up to be one beastly device. A recent post from an industry analyst on Chinese website

Weibo

indicates that the high-end handset could be the first to feature Huawei’s in-house Kirin 970 chip that will be built on a 10nm process.

For comparison, the Kirin 960 found on theHuawei P10uses a 16nm manufacturing technology. Generally speaking, a smaller semiconductor size translates to greater power efficiency and performance, which suggests that the Chinese manufacturer could make a sizable technological stride with the Mate 10. The Snapdragon 835 which powers flagships like theSamsung Galaxy S8, Sony Xperia XZ Premium , andOnePlus 5 is also produced on a 10nm process, although Qualcomm platforms have a tendency to outperform their Kirin counterparts.

The 970 is rumored to sport an octa-core CPU with 4 ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocked up to 3GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.8GHz. A Mali-G71 MP8 will reportedly supply the graphics muscle.

According to other rumors, the Mate 10 will rock a nearly bezel-less design and a 6-inch display. It is also speculated that dual-camera compositions will be present both on the front and back of the device. Still, this information is based on rumors, so it is advisable to take it with a pinch of salt.
