This year is the 112th Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference will be held July 16-19 in Montréal, Québec. While we’re excited to be back in Montreal for the conference, we are really looking forward to this year’s theme: Policing in a Digital Society – Risks and Opportunities. This theme fits perfectly with our IT Innovation session titled, “Develop a Strategy to Leverage Technology as a Force Multiplier.” Our session is scheduled for Tuesday, July 18 from 3:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Plenary Room (210A) at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
During this session, you can expect to hear more about the ‘right information at the right time’ concept. Rob Van Gastel, business development consultant, Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure, will talk about connecting organizations with the mission-critical and business-critical data necessary to make better, timelier, and more informed decisions, which are considered force multipliers.
In today’s policing environment, public safety organizations need to achieve and maintain high levels of service, while managing the expectations of citizens, the mandates of public officials and regulators, and the impacts of new forms of technology, which include enterprise architecture and mobile communications. However, legacy technologies, budget and staffing pressures, a lack of technical resources, and resistance to change create challenges for policing organizations. Rob will discuss the opportunities when implementing technology to create advantages for police agencies, especially within emergency management. He will also touch on innovation and current trends as well as how agencies can take strategic approaches to move technology forward.
In addition to the session, you will find Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure at booth 412-414 with live demos of many of our public safety solutions. The booth will focus on two main areas:
Command and Control
- Intergraph Computer-Aided Dispatch for multi-agency incident response along with mobile applications for police and emergency services.
- Intergraph Planning & Response to manage the entire lifecycle of major incidents, domestic operations, and large scale events.
Reporting and Analysis
- Intergraph InPursuit WebRMS for rapid and reliable access to information, whenever and wherever needed.
- Intergraph Business Intelligence for Public Safety to improve performance and allocate resources more effectively.
We look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s CACP conference! If you have any questions before the event, please contact me .
